Not so Yummy Rice Cereal

Although it is popular that babies start eating solids at four months Mommy chose to wait longer because it is what the books claimed to be best for babies. Megan's doctor specifically asks too that Megan should wait till Megan is six months. Their reasons are that research has found that babies that started early as four months had more allergies, and more prone to get diabetes and obese as adults. But lately, Mommy had to wake-up every hour to feed Megan from around three a.m. because Megan is just not satisfied anymore. So last Monday, Mommy gave up and bought Megan's first rice cereal. Mommy chose gerber cereal after lots of reading. Mommy mixed Megan half a teaspoon of cereal into her 4 fluid ounces of dinner milk. Megan didn't have a problem so Mommy gave it to Megan again the following Morning. And Mommy has been giving it to Megan that way once in the morning and once at night right before bedtime.

On Thursday night, right before Grey's Anatomy, Mommy and Daddy sat to give Megan her first spoon of rice cereal with milk. Mommy got Megan a pretty rubberized spoon just for babies that day for Megan's first real dinner! So Mommy showed Megan her spoon half filled with rice cereal while Daddy was watching. When Megan saw it she grabbed it so fast and shove it in her mouth! Mommy and Daddy were both very shocked at the accuracy of the spoon going into the mouth BUT Megan tasted the rice cereal and gave us a wrinkled unhappy face. Pulled out the spoon then stared at it again. After a moment Megan shoved it to her mouth again and still didn't like it. Megan tried to like the cereal but Mommy guessed Megan was just not ready yet. Daddy and Mommy just laughed and enjoyed Megan's spirit though in trying her first spoon of rice cereal. Mommy tried it again this morning but the same result so as of now Mommy just decided to mix a bit of it on her formula and give it to her slowly. Taste is acquired and hopefully Megan will learn to acquire the taste after so many times of tasting a bit in her formula.
